Departure for Kizhi Island by hydrofoil.

Upon arrival transfer to the guesthouse Kizhskaya Blagodat by boat (10 minutes). Kizhskaya Blagodat is a cozy family run guesthouse situated on the mainland right opposite Kizhi Island. The owner of the guesthouse is the son of the head carpenter, who restored the church of the Transfiguration in the Soviet time. You will be pleasantly surprised with the tranquility of the place as well as with the hospitality of its hosts. Accommodation in twin rooms (WC and shower in every room).

Welcome lunch.

Excursion by boat to the ancient wooden chapels around Kizhi Island, which form the famous Kizhi Necklace.

Excursion in the Kizhi Open-Air Museum of Wooden Architecture. Kizhi is one of the first open-air museums and one of the most popular tourist attractions in Russia. The pearl of the museum is its world-known wooden church ensemble which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1990.

Transfer to Petrozavodsk by hydrofoil (1 hour 15 minutes).

Arrival in Petrozavodsk. Transfer to the hotel.

Meeting with the guide and instructors in Petrozavodsk. Each jeep will take 2-3 persons.

Departure to the mining park of Ruskeala. Ruskeala mining park – the basis of the complex is an object of cultural heritage, a historical monument – a former marble quarry filled with groundwater.

Visit of the highest canyon waterfall of Karelia White Bridges (19 metres).

Also we stop in the area of Tulmozero iron factory. Errected in 1762 the factory used to produce up to 160 tons of steel and iron per year. Today ruined factory workshops resemble a medieval castle, built of massive stones and bricks. The road to the waterfall is only passible with off-road vehicles.

Picnic lunch.

Driving back to Petrozavodsk using forest paths.

We head to the Kivach Nature Reserve. Excursion in the Kivach Nature Reserve. You will get acquainted with the second highest plain waterfall in Europe and typical and rare Karelian plants. The eco system of the Kivach Nature Reserve is unique. Apart from the picturesque landscapes you will enjoy its crystal clear air.

Picnic lunch with shashlik.

Transfer to the the first Russian spa, founded by Peter the Great in the 18th century.

Arrival at Marsial Waters Spa. The water, rich with iron, was discovered in the area in the 18th century. Afterwards Peter the Great ordered to erect the first Russian spa on this territory. In the Soviet time it was the best sanatorium in Karelia and till today this is a very popular place. Of great importance are not only the healing springs, but also the tranquil atmosphere and unique microclimate of the area. Tasting of water from 3 healing springs. Visit the ancient Church of Apostle Peter. Built in 1721 at the decree of Peter the Great, according to his design and drawings.

Transfer to Petrozavodsk.

Transfer to the husky farm.

Excursion in the husky farm. You will be introduced to the dogs so that you become familiar with them. Your musher will tell you a lot of interesting facts and information about the work which is involved in their maintenance and about their nature. Instructions and safety measures. Once you are equipped with a special belt, you will go on an exciting trekking route. During the route you will learn the character of your dog, and the dog will get to know you better. At first your dog can move faster than you need, so you will need to work an ideal speed for both of you.   Afterwards you will have a cup of hot tea in the traditional hut covered with reindeer skins and try yourself in cooking Karelian pies.

Transfer to the Kinerma Village, which in 2016 became the most beautiful village in Russia. Nadezhda, a local resident of Kinerma Village, will meet us and show the main sights of the village, which are houses of the end of the 19th century and the wooden chapel of Virgin Mary of Smolensk erected in the 17th century. After the excursion around the village Nadezhda will invite you to her house to have a traditional Karelian lunch.

Petrozavodsk is a city of intriguing history and rich in terms of culture – it’s a wonderful place for a little sightseeing tour. In the guided tour we will explore the unique open-air museum of contemporary art on the embankment of Lake Onega.

Trip by hovercraft to Kizhi Island (Transfer: 1h 20min; On the Island: 4h).

Kizhi Island is the pearl of Russian Karelia located in the ancient beautiful Lake Onego. During an excursion around the island you will visit the traditional peasant house, learn a lot about Karelian crafts and traditions, listen to the bell ringing and see one of the main Orthodox shrines of the Russian North – the Church of the Resurrection of Lazarus.

And of course we will have time for souvenirs and shops, there are a lot of them!

On the way to Sortavala (transit city to Valaam) we visit the Memorial Cross established in memory of the Winter War.

The Valaam Island is the Monastery complex in the northern part of Lake Ladoga. It was a place of pilgrimage for Russian Tsars and their families, it inspired great representatives of Russian culture and science. During our visit to Valaam you will experience the tour from the Central Monastery to Resurrection Skete. Also, you will have unique opportunity to have lunch at the monastery refectory.

After the active day in Valaam we have late arrival back to Petrozavodsk.

On the way you will have several stops:

Tour of the Central Monastery.

Walk to the Cape of Mazes on the picturesque shore of the White Sea. Here you can see dancing birches and stone labyrinths. At the end of the day you will have a free time to explore and enjoy the Island. Please, feel free to rent a bicycle.

The last but not least day starts with the bus excursion to the Sekirnaya Gora. It is the place where during the times of the Solovetsky camps there was a punishment cell for prisoners. The central building of which is unique lighthouse church.

Then we visit “Botanical Garden – Makaryevskaya Deserts”. There is one of the northernmost botanical gardens in Russia, which is located on the territory of the former monastery.

The highlight of the day is the trip to the Zayatsky Island to the mysterious mazes. (Boat trip will be possible under favorable weather conditions)

Excursion around the Monastery complex. You will listen to the history of the legendary Solovetsky Monastery that once was one of the richest monasteries of Russia, visit its functioning church, and go along its thick fortress walls that no enemy could overcome. Lunch.

Boat excursion to Island Zayatsky. Stone labyrinths of Big Zayatsky Island are rare and valuable archaeological monuments. You will have a chance to observe the impressive monuments of the past and admire a special beauty of this small island. Climate here is so severe that the island is covered mostly with a variety of moss species and berries. Dinner.

10:00 Today you will visit the highest point of Big Solovetsky Island, Hill Sekirnaya. On the top of the hill is situated one of the strictest sketes of the island with a unique lighthouse church. During the GULAG time the skete was one of the cruelest of all the detention places for the inmates of the camp. Today it is a living skete again and a very tranquil place that offers a fantastic panorama view over the island. + Excursion to the Botanical Garden when you can visit one of the most northerly botanical gardens Russia and see unique planting of various periods in the history of the Solovetsky Islands. Lunch.

During the city tour of Irkutsk you will take a trip around the Lower embankment, visit the Spassky church – the only building of the Irkutsk Kremlin still standing and the Znamensky Cathedral, behind its walls is the miraculous icon of the Mother of God “The Omen” and the relics of the first bishop of Irkutsk and Nerchinsk Innocent Kulchytsky. Also you can get acquainted with Karl Marx Street, on which the unique buildings of the beginning of the XIX- XX century are located, it was rebuilt after the great fire in 1879 by the famous architect. The tour will take you to another historical place, which is located on Gagarin Boulevard (the monument to Alexander III, White House, National History Museum), to the Quarter 130, which combines ancient looks and modern comfort.

Excursion to the Peschanaya (Sandy) bay by “Khivus” (hovercraft)

Being abroad the hovercraft will give you a feeling of a speedy fly over the Baikal Lake ice.

Reschanaya Bay is the pearl of the Baikal; it is located 81 km of Listvyanka between two capes topped with cliffs called Bolshaya Kolokolnya and Malaya Kolokolnya (Big and Small Belfry). Not far from it, there is a small island called Baklany Kamen’ (Cormorant Stone). Ice lace on the shore cliffs, small caves and grottos where one can walk or have a lunch under the stone shelters produce an impression not to forget. The Baikal ice is in some places covered with snow, and in the other, is as clear as at the skating rink. On the way to Peschanaya, you will pass ridges of ice-hummocks which shine and shimmer with all rainbow colors on sunny days resembling miraculous palaces of the Ice Queen.

First by bus 260 km + transfer from ferry place to village Khuzhir by UAZ (Russian expedition car, 8 seats), about 40 km off-road Olkhon is among 26 Baikal islands the biggest one. It is called “the heart of the Baikal”, this is the geographical, historical and sacred center of the lake. Buryat people was conceiving here. According to the legends here the first Buryat shaman got his gift.

You will enjoy the splendid views of Lake Baikal, learn some Buryat legends and visit the shaman power places. The name “Sagan-Khushun” originates from the Buryat language and it means “White cape”. There is the rock “Three Brothers” near the cape. Local legend tells: ”An Olkhon’s shaman had three sons and a daughter. The daughter fell in love and ran away from her native home against father’s will. The shaman turned the sons into eagles and sent them to look for the girl. The brothers found her, but she prayed not to bring her back to father’s home. Having returned, they declared they failed to find their sister. But the father being a shaman became suspicious and furious. He turned them into three rocks, and they have been standing there since then.

Ogoy is the largest island of the Small Sea. In 2005, the Buddhist Stupa, known as the Stupa of Enlightenment, was erected there to help believers overcome all obstacles. There is a belief that Buddhist stupas are capable of dissolving negative energy and misfortunes and contribute to the prosperity of the area on which they are located. Many believe that the Stupa will benefit those who visit it on a regular basis.

Day – 3 Murmansk (BB+Lunch)

On the second day you will visit the “Sam-Syit” ethnic Sami village, where from the excursion you will learn the culture and life of the indigenous Sami people. Visit the alley of sacred idols and be able to make a wish that will certainly come true (this will require a total of 6 yellow coins). Get to know the fauna of the village. Sleigh rides with reindeer and a banana ride behind a snowmobile. Photos in national costumes of the people and a delicious lunch of fish soup and stewed venison.

Also visit Husky Park, where cute Siberian Huskies will take you for a ride in their sled. Friendly atmosphere, tea table, Husky story and more.

In the evening you will go for amazing and magical Northern Lights hunting tour.

Day – 4 Murmansk (BB+ Lunch)

The third day of the program will allow you to fully enjoy winter fishing and try your luck and catch a fish in the ice fishing program. This moment will allow you to test yourself for excitement and resilience.

A pleasant bonus of such a day will be an incredible snowmobile safari near the city, which will take you from the city to the coniferous forests and allow you to spend time actively and with the benefit of body and soul.

Day – 5 Murmansk- Teriberka- Murmansk (BB+ Lunch)

The fourth day of the program will give you an unforgettable adventure on the coast of the Arctic Ocean in the village of Teriberka. During the excursion, you will get acquainted with the history of this place, its daily life, enjoy the beautiful view of the Barents Sea – part of the Arctic Ocean,snowy hills, try to build a pyramid out of stones for good luck. Wildlife, endless tundra and unique northern landscapes. Experience the icy atmosphere of the Barents Sea!

Attention!

Changes in the program are possible due to the closure of the road to the village of Teriberka due to difficult weather conditions. In winter and early spring, there is a lot of snow in Teriberka, so a sleigh and a snowmobile are required for comfortable movement.

 

At the end of the program you will stay at the unique eco-hotel “Aurora Village” 49 km from the city. On the territory there are 10 igloos, 30% made of glass, which allows you to comfortably observe the Northern Lights.

Day – 6 Murmansk- Kirovsk (BB+ Lunch)

In the program of the fifth day you will go to Kirovsk, which is famous for the Khibiny mountains and good ski resorts, get acquainted with the city and its history, visit the “Museum of Stone” – the Museum and Exhibition Center of the mining enterprise “Apatite”. (A building with a clock on top (local “Big Ben). Unique samples of rocks from all over the world and a huge collection of minerals on the Kola Peninsula.

A snowmobile safari in Khibiny will allow you to admire a beautiful bird’s eye view and spend the second part of the day actively.
