The afternoon will be spent exploring New Delhi with a drive along Rajpath where you can view the Parliament House, the President’s House and India Gate. A visit to Humayun’s Tomb, Qutab Minar and Birla Temple are also included. This evening, visit with a local family and partake of a traditional Indian meal. This evening enjoy a farewell dinner.

DAY 14: AKSHARDHAM TEMPLE SIGHTSEEING
Take the morning to admire the beautifully ornate Akshardham Temple. It consists of 234 carved pillars, 9 domes, 20 quadrangled shikhars, a spectacular Gajendra Pith (plinth of stone elephants) and 20,000 statues of India’s great sadhus, devotees, acharyas and divine personalities. After a leisurely afternoon, you will be transferred to the International Airport for your flight home.

DAY 2 – KATHMANDU SIGHTSEEING
Your tour of Kathmandu includes exploration of Durbar Square with its abundance of lovely pagoda- shaped temples, many bazaars and the Royal Palace. Enjoy a magnificent view of Kathmandu from Swayambunath, also known as the monkey temple. Continue to Bodhnath to see the largest Buddhist stupa in the world. At Pashupatinath, view the most sacred of Nepal’s Shiva shrines, located near the holy river Bagmati.
DAY 3 – PATAN / BHADGAON EXCURSION
Visit Patan, an even older city than Kathmandu, featuring hundreds of temples and palaces. You’ll get a rare chance to observe skilled artisans creating ancient handicrafts. Later, enjoy a drive through the beautiful countryside to Bhadgaon, also known as Bhaktapur with its many interesting temples and palaces. This evening you are treated to a lively Nepalese dance & music presentation followed by dinner.
DAY 4 – KATHMANDU / DELHI
In the morning transfer by private car to the airport for your flight to Delhi. Today you will arrive in Delhi, India’s bustling capital city. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

DAY 5: DAY 5 – DELHI
This morning, embark on a tour of New Delhi, driving along Rajpath, the capital’s broadest avenue. Along the way, you will see Parliament House, now known as Sansad Bhavan, a low, circular structure that covers more than five acres of land. You will also see Rashtrapati Bhawan, the President’s Palace, the official residence of the president of India. Constructed on Raisina Hill, this imposing structure was initially built as the official residence of the British viceroy of India. You will also see India Gate, a 138-foot-high arch that stands at the eastern end of Rajpath. It is inscribed with the names of 85,000 Indian Army soldiers who lost their lives in World War I, the North-West Frontier operations that occurred at the same time and the 1919 Afghan fiasco. Below burns the Amar Jawan Jyoti, the Eternal Flame, in tribute to all martyred soldiers of India. The Amar Jawan Jyoti was lit after the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War. Next, proceed to Humayun’s Tomb. The tomb, an elegant example of early Mughal architecture, was commissioned by Humayun’s widowed queen, Haji Begum, in the sixteenth century. Architecturally it is the forerunner of the world-famous Taj Mahal. You will also have a chance to visit Qutab Minar, a soaring, 238-foot-high stone tower, which was built by Qutab-Ud-Din Aibak in the twelfth century. The tower has five distinct stories, each with a projecting balcony. At its base is the Quwwat-Ul Islam Mosque, the first mosque to be built in India. A twenty-three-foot-high iron pillar, which was built in the fourth century, stands in the courtyard of the mosque. After viewing Qutab Minar, you will move on to Birla Temple, which is one of the major landmarks of New Delhi. The temple, built in 1939, is dedicated to Vishnu and enshrines almost all the deities of the Hindu pantheon. The entire temple is decorated with relief carvings of mythological scenes. The temple reaches an impressive 165 feet at its highest point.in the afternoon, your visit will focus on Old Delhi, the seventeenth-century walled city of Shahjahanabad. Visit the Red Fort, or Lal Quila, situated on the banks of the River Yamuna. Its thick, red-sandstone walls bulge with turrets and bastions that have withstood the ravages of both time and nature. Within the walls lie halls of public and private audience, domed and arched marble palaces, plush private apartments, a mosque and elaborately designed gardens. Even today, Lal Quila remains an impressive testimony to Mughal grandeur. Its magnificence leaves many awestruck and breathless. Next, visit the Raj Ghat, a memorial erected on the site where Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the Indian nation, was cremated. You will also view the Ashoka Pillar, a magnificent, fourteen-foot-high structure created in the third century. Made from polished sandstone and tapered toward the top, the pillar is inscribed with an admonition to promote peace in the world through the teachings of Buddha. Later, take a walk through Chandni Chowk, the old marketplace of Shahjahanabad, which is now a picturesque bazaar. It consists of many narrow lanes that are crowded with shops selling everything from authentic Indian food and clothing to electronics.
DAY 6 – DELHI / VARANASI-SARNATH
Today fly to Varanasi (India’s holiest city), located on the sacred Ganges River. upon arrival, you are met and transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon visit the stupas, ruins and museum at Sarnath, scene of Buddha’s first sermon. In the evening proceed to the ghats in cycle rickshaws to witness the evening aarti ceremony.

Travel to the ancient Pallavan port of Mamallapuram and visit the last surviving shore temple, stone chariots and a bas-relief depicting Hindu legends.

DAY 2: AKSHARDHAM TEMPLE SIGHTSEEING
After a leisurely morning, visit the beautiful Akshardham Temple. Built without steel, it consists of 234 ornately carved pillars, 9 ornate domes, 20 quadrangled shikhars, spectacular Gajendra Pith (plinth of stone elephants) and 20,000 statues of India’s great sadhus, devotees, acharyas and divine personalities. This evening, enjoy a Welcome Dinner at the hotel.
DAY 3: OLD & NEW DELHI SIGHTSEEING
Take a morning tour of Old Delhi. Your visit includes stops at the Red Fort, Raj Ghat – a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi, Ashoka Pillar and the mile-long Chandni Chowk bazaar. In the afternoon, embark on a tour of New Delhi driving past the Parliament House, the President’s House and India Gate. Later visit Humayun’s Tomb, Qutab Minar and Birla Temple.
DAY 4: DELHI / AGRA SIGHTSEEING
On your morning drive to Agra, stop at Sikandra to visit the architecturally marvelous tomb of Emperor Akbar. This afternoon, spend time exploring Agra and the 16th century Agra Fort with its battlements, apartments, gardens and audience halls. The day ends with a visit to the magnificent Taj Mahal, monument to love, where you will witness the warm glow as the sun sets over the monument.

DAY 5: AGRA / FATEHPUR SIKRI / RANTHAMBHORE
Visit the Taj Mahal early this morning as the rays of the rising sun bathe the marble with a divine glow, before departing for Ranthambhore. On the way you will visit the 16th century abandoned city of Fatehpur Sikri, once ruled by Emperor Akbar. This ghost town is remarkably well preserved and presents a perfect synthesis of Muslim, Hindu and Jain architecture. The sculptured columns bear mute testimony to this gallant experiment to unite Hindus and Muslims. Once you arrive in Ranthambhore, visit the remains of a thousand year old fortress which now serves as a wildlife sanctuary for many animals including leopards and tigers. Spend the night at your luxury camp on the private reserve of the local Maharajah.

DAY 6: RANTHAMBHORE GAME RESERVE
Ranthambhore Game Reserve is one of the few preserves, where the nocturnal camera-shy tigers may be seen in daylight. Almost hunted to extinction by the local royalty and their British overlords, the population of the Bengal tiger is slowly increasing, thanks to the efforts of “Project Tiger” and the World Wildlife Fund. You’ll take thrilling game drives in the morning and evening to scour the jungle for wildlife.
DAY 7: RANTHAMBHORE / JAIPUR
Start off your day with a morning game drive. After, leave for the “Pink City” of Jaipur, where the old city is surrounded by a massive wall pierced by magnificent gates.

DAY 8: AMBER FORT EXCURSION & JAIPUR SIGHTSEEING
Visit the mountain fortress of Amber, a superb example of Rajput architecture with its complex of palaces, temples, and ornate apartments. In the afternoon you will tour Jaipur City and visit Hawa Mahal, or “Palace of Winds”. Continue on to City Palace, with its latticed balconies, tiny windows, cupolas, courtyards and arched entrances. A stop at the ancient observatory concludes the tour.
DAY 9: JAIPUR / UDAIPUR
Drive this morning to Udaipur. On your arrival in Udaipur, check-in at your hotel.

DAY 10: RANAKPUR EXCURSION
Today’s excursion brings you to the beautiful 15th century sculpted Jain temples of Ranakpur. The intricately carved white marble temple of Adinath is perhaps the most well preserved and impressive examples of Western Indian Temple architecture. The temple dedicated to the Sun God is famed for its erotic sculpture. Enjoy lunch at Maharani Bagh where you can see a mango grove and private gardens of the Maharajah of Jodhpur. (BL)

Spend the morning at the romantic and picturesque “City of Lakes,” before visiting City Palace, Saheliyon ki Bari, or Garden of Maids and the folklore museum. You will also have the opportunity to view a presentation of string puppets typical to this area. The afternoon is at leisure.
DAY 12: UDAIPUR / MUMBAI (BOMBAY)
Fly to Mumbai (formerly Bombay), and proceed on a tour of this cosmopolitan city. Sights include the British-built arch “Gateway of India,” the Hanging Gardens and Malabar Hills where Mumbai’s rich and famous live, the Prince of Wales Museum, Dhobi Ghat, Marine Drive, the Gandhi Memorial Museum and Jain Temple.

In the evening proceed to the ghats in cycle rickshaws to witness the evening aarti ceremony.

DAY 5: VARANASI / KHAJURAHO
In the early morning, enjoy the sunrise on the Ganges River with a boat ride followed by a walking tour of the old city. Later fly to Khajuraho, capital of the 9th to 13th century Chandela Dynasty. Visit the Western group of temples containing the largest and loveliest temples, including KandariyaMahadev (representing Chandela art at its best).

DAY 6: KHAJURAHO / AGRA
This morning, visit the principal Eastern group of temples, modest and less ornate than the Western Group. These temples reflect the simplicity inherent in Jainism. Later, drive to Jhansi to board the train to Agra, en route visiting Orcha, a medieval city frozen in time and space, existing to this day as it must have in the 17th century. Upon arrival you are met and transferred to your hotel.

Enjoy an early morning visit of the magnificent Taj Mahal for a sunrise view. After breakfast visit the Agra Fort and the city. The rest of the day is at leisure. In the morning, tour this famous City of Lakes, known as one of the most picturesque and romantic cities of India and maybe the world. Visit City Palace, Saheliyonki Bari or Garden of Maids and the folklore museum where you can see a presentation of the string puppets typical to this area. Today’s afternoon excursion brings you to the beautifully sculpted Eklingji temple. Eklingji is famous for its 108 temple complex, built on a shore of a lake. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple complex of Eklingji was built in 728AD. The main temple is made of white marble and the icon of Lord Shiva is made of black marble. Later, visit Nagdatemple which dates back to the 10th century. The term ‘Sas-Bahu’ suggests ‘Mother-in-law and Daughter-in-law’ respectively. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This evening enjoy a farewell dinner.
